Christmas letter 2007

Merry Christmas
And
A Happy New Year!

Wishes from
Johan, Sophia, Jacob, Ingrid and Claes

Hi !
Well, yet another year has passed in a rapid pace and we are soon celebrating Christmas in 2007. Time is flying and many things have happened during the twelve months that have passed.

Ingrid have just filed the last (hopefully) documents to the Oberbayerns Regierung to be able to work as a Doctor. She has been offered a position in Dachau Hospital as Oberarzt in Obstetrics. The hospital is waiting for her and it is only an approval on existing documents and clarification from the German police authorities that she is not registered with grave offences (?). Hopefully the fine of €5 she got for walking against red light, when she arrived in Starnberg 2004, is not registered any longer. After Christmas we will finally get the long awaited answer. Keep your thumbs! (Hopefully we will not have to move again shortly after she started which was unfortunately the case in Singapore.)

Last Christmas we spent in Obertauern, Austria, skiing with our close friends Family Greiff. We were at the only resort with good snow condition that week. Not a cloud on the sky and cold weather. The week can just be summarized as fantastic. We hope for the same this year and it looks really good with record snowfalls during the end of November and starting December.

January to March we spent on travelling to different ski competitions around the Alps. We travelled to both international school competitions as well as local ski races. Both Sophia and Jacob claimed top three positions in almost every race. By the year end both of them got the MVP award in school for their achievements. Johan entered his first real races and is now determined to beat his older brother and sister this season. Ingrid is so nervous during the races that she even forgets to swing the giant cow bell that we bought for giving the traditional Alp race support.

During the Wengen, Switzerland, race weekend we learned that the World’s two first alpine ski clubs were established there. The first one being ”Kandahari Ski Club” which was established by some old English soldiers returning from wars in the northern provinces of India. The second one is called ”Downhill Only Ski Club” and was established after the Swiss had built a railway from the centre of Wengen all the way to the top of the mountain. All paid by the jolly good Brits of course. Thereby the English skiers didn’t have to track up the hill to ski down, but could instead concentrate on getting down the hill only, thereof the name “Downhill Only Ski Club”. Who could have believed that seeing the English trying alpine skiing nowadays….

Eastern we spent in Sweden by the relatives. Jacob played Junior Swedish Championships but lost in the first round. On the way home to Lund again the old favourite car from 1989 broke down after the electrical system burnt down during the trip back. We were forced to stay overnight with some friends close by. The day after, when finally coming back to Lund we were fined by the Police for not having functioning headlights. We really felt welcomed back to Sweden.

To really celebrate ”Labour Day”, we went to a very luxurious Wedding on the river of Seine in Paris (for our American friends, not Paris Hilton, but Paris - as in the Capitol of France, which is a country in Europe, which you find east of USA, on the other side of the Atlantic Sea, Atlantic being the water on the east coast where you find New York (east you find most easily by looking north towards the north pole (opposite direction from the Sun at 12.00 your lunch time (turn your back against the Sun)), then you should find east by pointing your right arm straight out from the side)– sorry I just had to, after have watched a movie on You Tube regarding Americans and their “general” geography knowledge)

In the shift of July and August we spent two relaxing weeks in southern France. We played lots of golf and tennis, swam in the pool, enjoyed some fantastic dinners and the best of wines. We came back to Sweden where Jacob played the Swedish Outdoor Championships in Tennis and made it to the third round which was much better than expected.

Now also Johan’s activities start to be on the same level as the older ones. Johan prefers (when he doesn’t fight with Jacob) to play football (Soccer in America) and tennis. However during the coming winter he will practicing racing on skis.

Jacob is now looking down at his mother, flexing his muscles and utilizing his now deeper voice to convince her that he actually knows better than anyone else in the Family (incl Dad….). Where and how is the World going to end?

For Sophia ennis is besides skiing the most important sport. Sophia played her first real non-ranking tournaments this year and received the MVP award in school. Next Summer she intend to play her first real ranking tournaments as well.

Claes continues in his role. Business is good, the region is rapidly growing, Sony Ericsson takes market share continuously. He is looking forward to even further great results in 2008.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!
